What I've learned so far. DDR3 and DDR3L sticks look the same to the naked eye. They both fit in the same slot. You can't just glance at it and tell the difference. The main differences I've learned so far is that DDR3 works with 1.5 Volts. The slots on your motherboard will have 1.5 V printed next to them, or on them. That means DDR3. DDR3L works with 1.35 Volts, and some say they also work with 1.5 V, yet there seems to be a 50/50 difference in opinion about that. I might be that 1% to tip it over to NOPE. DDR3L uses a lower voltage, which in some cases might make the memory more efficient. Some say that if you put a DDR3L stick in a DDR3 slot, you might burn the stick out due to the voltage being too high. Others say DDR3L is backwards compatible and can work with both 1.5 and 1.35 Volts. In my experience, probably not. I can't scientifically back it up, because I only had those two sticks and that one motherboard to test on. For all I know, the sticks wer...

Except he didn't. I bought a couple of sticks of Crucial 4 GB DDR3L RAM, because I thought I could definitely stick those in the slots of the motherboard. I waited for several days, and they finally arrived (with my new Kingston 32 GB SD card, because the old one died on Saturday... RIP all my stuff that was on there....) All jolly like and happy I ran into the room to install the new RAM and get a WHOPPING 8 GB on that bastard to take som strain off the old thing. I put the stick in place. I decided to boot it once before putting the cover back on and placing it in a stationary position, just to be sure. And... anti-climax! Got the mean old BIOS beeps, no picture. Just the endless, annoying beeps once again. I started sweating. I started swearing, very quietly at first. Took a deep breath and started testing each stick in each slot, one at a time. No good. I slowly started to realize that I had once again bought stuff before reading up on it enough. WHY THE FUCK ARE...
